Hula Rockout

During the warmer months11412089_935723896489030_8917768562647147234_o, we host 45-minute Hula Rockout classes at local parks around the DFW metroplex. Whether you are brand-spankin’ new to Hula, or have been dancing for years and can ‘Uwehe with the best of them, this is a fun way to get some early morning FUN in the SUN!

Our Hula Rockout classes are an exciting way to get a workout in with friends and family, and anyone can join – all ages, no matter your fitness level or dance expertise. We encourage Moms (and Dads!) to bring your na keiki (kids) along! We enjoy this format for introducing the little ones to the art of dance while getting in a GREAT workout!

Hula Rockout Class Rate: $5.00/person, Children 10 and under are FREE.

Check out our Calendar for our Hula Rockout Schedule!

Lei Making & Crafting Workshops

12141506_979703595424393_2498077773706214096_nOne of our passions, aside from Polynesian dancing, is lei making. If you’ve ever danced with a Hula or Polynesian dance group before, you know that A LOT of the work involves making your own costumes and adornments.

We very much love this part of the process, and have met countless individuals who love the art of lei making. Our lei workshops are a chance for people to learn the art so they too can “spread the aloha.”

Our lei making & crafting workshops are planned at different times throughout the year, which we try to coincide with other Polynesian events that are happening in the area. Different classes are organized and coordinated depending on the participants and difficulty (for instance we’ll host a Yarn Lei Making workshop for children, and a Floral Lei Making workshop for the adults).

Be sure to check our Calendar for upcoming dates and additional info.

Our Keiki Hula Camps are perfect for those who are brand new to Hula! The camps are one (1) hour each week, held in five (5) week sessions, and are open to children ages 5 and up. Additionally, parents are required to be present.

At the end of each five-week session, we hold a mini-recital for friends and family, which gives the kids an opportunity to share what they have learned.

The Keiki Hula Camp Itinerary may include (but may not be limited to): Hula Step Basics, Kahiko (Ancient Hula) instruction, and ‘Auana (Modern Hula) instruction. The songs & hula taught will always be age-appropriate. All participants are provided with information packets which include the names of the Hula steps, Lyrics (and translations) for the songs being taught, as well as CDs of the music so that the keiki can not only practice at home, but share with others what they have learned!

Be sure to check our Calendar for upcoming dates & additional info.

Keiki Hula Classes

We hold weekly Keiki Hula classes for children (ages 5 and up) who have attended at least one (1) five-week Keiki hula camp session, and want to learn more. The children in our weekly Keiki classes commit at least one (1) hour to learning and dancing with us every Sunday.

Our Keiki Hula students also get the opportunity to participate in our events and share what they have learned with the public, which is very exciting!

Polynesian Dance Workshops

Our Polynesian Dance Workshops may be half-day (approximately 4 hours) or full-day (approximately 6 hours) depending on the Teacher, participant Expertise Levels, and Difficulty of the dances being taught. These camps are open to all, but are specifically geared toward participants who want more in-depth instruction past just the Basics. Camps may include a combination of Hula and Tahitian songs, or another Polynesian cultural art, such as Maori poi balls.

The Polynesian Dance Camp Itinerary may will include (but may not be limited to): Kahiko (Ancient Hula) instruction, and ‘Auana (Modern Hula) instruction, with the Meles (songs) varying between Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. All participants are provided with information packets which include Lyrics (and translations) for the songs being taught, as well as CDs of the music.

Be sure to check our Calendar for upcoming dates and additional info.
